Studio Policies — Studio 8 Hot Yoga

Studio Policies

Clarity is kindness. We believe clear expectations create a better experience for everyone. Below you'll find our policies and studio waiver, which apply to all students, regardless of membership type.

You're responsible for reading and following these policies. They exist so everyone has a good experience, and so this stays a studio worth sustaining. By attending class, you're agreeing to all of it.

Zero Tolerance: This is a shared space, and we hold it that way. Respect yourself and the people practicing next to you — no bullying, harassment, or gossip. There are no exceptions to this one.

Signing Up

Register online before you arrive so your spot is held and your teacher is expecting you. Doors open about 20 minutes prior to class. Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early — this gives you time to settle in before class starts.

All contracts and waivers must be signed, and your account must be paid in full and in good standing, before you can register for class.

No Late Entry

The front door locks at the start of class. If you arrive after that, you won't be let in, and the class counts as a no-show.

Walk-Ins

Walk-ins are welcome if space allows, but a spot isn't guaranteed unless you've signed up in advance. We recommend registering at least one hour before class.

Scent-Free

Come clean, and skip the heavy perfume, cologne, or scented products — it keeps the room comfortable for everyone breathing it in.

Personal Belongings

Leave important belongings at home or in your car. Anything you bring with you must remain in a cubby during class. Don't leave items on the floor in the hall, in bathrooms, or bring them into the studio room. You only need your mat, towel, water bottle. Personal props like straps or blocks are welcome if you prefer to bring your own.

Phones & Shoes

Shoes stay out of the studio room — leave them in a cubby before you walk in. Phones stay out of the room, too. If you're on call, let your teacher know ahead of time. Any phone brought into the studio, including ones left in cubbies, must be on silent or do not disturb.

Silence

Conversation isn't permitted in the studio room starting ten minutes before class. Use that time to settle onto your mat and get quiet before we begin. If you need to ask a question or greet a fellow yogi, please use a whispering voice. If talking becomes a distraction, your teacher will give you a warning first. If it keeps happening, you'll be asked to leave.

Respect Teachers and Students

Follow your teacher's instruction. Modifications and going deeper into a pose are welcome, but building your own practice outside of the teacher's instruction is not. If that's what you're after, rent the studio room or book a private session instead. If you want more intensity than what's being cued, set up toward the back so you're not distracting and confusing students who are newer to the room.

The last five minutes of class are silent. That means no packing up your mat, no final postures, and no shifting around — just stillness, for you and everyone around you. If you need to leave early, inform your teacher and exit the room before savasana.

Keep Door Closed

Keep the door closed when you're coming or going — it's how we hold the heat for everyone in the room.

Shared Space

Wipe down your mat and any props before you put them away, so they're ready for the next person.

Quick Showers

Out of respect for the earth and your fellow yogis, please be mindful of the time you spend rinsing off. Keep showers short and sweet — about 5 minutes. Soap is provided. Bring your own towel.

If you can't make it to class, please cancel as soon as possible before it starts. Late cancellations and no-shows cost you a class credit or a no-show fee. We do not accept phone or voicemail cancellations.

Unlimited members who no-show a class will pay a $15 penalty. Limited and drop-in members who no-show a class pay a $10 penalty and lose the class credit, session, or fee used to book it. We undertsand that things happen — every student will be given a one-time written warning before fees apply.

Workshop & Event Cancellations

Cancel more than 24 hours before a workshop or event and you'll receive a credit on your Studio 8 account. Cancel less than 24 hours before, or no-show, and you won't receive a credit or refund.

If there's an extenuating circumstance behind your cancellation or no-show, email studio8hotyoga@gmail.com within 24 hours to dispute the automated fee.

The membership agreement between Member and Studio 8 Hot Yoga is on a 4-week recurring basis. The member agrees to allow Studio 8 Hot Yoga to charge their credit or debit card on file. Memberships may not be shared unless approved by the owner.

Right to Cancel

Virginia law allows you to cancel your membership contract within 72 hours (3 days) of signing, without penalty.

Termination for Cause

Studio 8 Hot Yoga may terminate your membership if: 1) you fail to make timely payments; 2) the monthly payment or dues are interrupted or discontinued for any reason and you don't provide an acceptable alternative; 3) you fail to follow Studio 8 Hot Yoga's membership policies or rules, or violate any part of this agreement; 4) your conduct is improper or harmful to the best interests of Studio 8 Hot Yoga or its customers.

Right to Modify Dues and Fees

Studio 8 Hot Yoga reserves the right to modify your dues at any time upon 30 days written notice. If you have a prepaid membership, Studio 8 Hot Yoga may not modify the amount of your prepaid dues before the expiration of the current term.

Refunds & Exchanges

All classes, class packs, memberships, and gift certificates are non-refundable, and sales are final.

All merchandise is non-refundable but may be exchanged for another size or item within 3 days of purchase. The product must be unused or unworn, with no signs of damage and no scent of smoke.

Approved refunds are credited to your Studio 8 account for future purchases, not issued to your original payment method.

Private sessions canceled less than 24 hours before the appointment are non-refundable.

Classes, programs, and workshops canceled by Studio 8 Hot Yoga receive a full refund, unless otherwise noted in your enrollment agreement.

Membership Holds

To pause autopay, submit a written request to studio8hotyoga@gmail.com at least 7 days before your next billing date. We do not accept verbal hold requests.

You may request one hold per contract term, for up to 3 months. Additional holds during the term incur a $30/month fee, as do holds extending beyond 3 consecutive months.

Any hold period is added to the end of your agreement if you're under contract, extending your commitment accordingly. All contractual obligations remain in effect once your membership reactivates.

Holds pause both billing and access for their duration, and your membership reactivates automatically when the hold ends.

A hold request isn't automatic — we'll confirm by email once your membership is paused. If you want to protect a locked-in rate, freezing your membership is how you do it.

Membership Cancellation

Memberships run month-to-month or on a 12-month commitment. Email studio8hotyoga@gmail.com to reach the owner directly about canceling — we do not accept verbal cancellation requests.

Cancel anytime with 14 days written notice before your next billing cycle. (Example: if your upcoming payment is on August 15th and want to cancel that cycle, submit your request by August 1st.) Your membership stays active for 4 weeks after your final payment.

Refunds aren't issued for auto-payments already received, except in the case of a system error. Once we receive your cancellation notice, we'll stop future auto-payments, but no refund is given for the current or previous months.

If you're under contract, you can pay 50% of your remaining balance to cancel early. Annual memberships include a one-time transfer option to a family member and must be approved by the owner. Members with over two years of consistent history can keep their locked-in annual rate and cancel anytime without penalty.

If you cancel and later return, your previous rate won't be honored — you'll pay the current fee. To protect a lower rate, freeze your membership instead of canceling.

Immediate cancellation outside the standard notice period is permitted only for medical reasons, military deployment, or moving more than 15 miles from Studio 8 Hot Yoga (2734 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23452), with proof required — a doctor's note, deployment papers, or proof of address — sent to studio8hotyoga@gmail.com. If you're in your first year of contract and signed up during a promotion, a $100 cancellation fee applies.

A cancellation request isn't automatic — we'll confirm by email once it's processed.

Studio 8 Hot Yoga reserves the right to modify, cancel, or terminate any membership contract. You won't owe further fees after we cancel your membership, but you remain responsible for unpaid fees — including late, no-show, or overdue dues — incurred before the cancellation notice, sent to the email on file at registration.

Before joining us for any classes or workshops, we ask that you review and sign our Release of Liability Waiver.
